Which Jamstix version is the right one for my needs?

Hi everybody,

I'm a long time user of EZDrummer having more than half of its expansions, and recently updated to EZD2. Don't get me wrong I like it a lot and the new version features are very nice, but been a single man (guitarist) project sometimes programing drums is a little frustrating process, manly when I start getting short of new ideas.

So thats why I'm here my idea (if thats possible) is to use Jamstix as a composition tool in combination with EZD2 and taping in the diverse sample library I have for the latter.

And to give you some context the music is heavy prog, in the vein of Porcupine Tree, Mars Volta, Haken, etc.

So you can think of time signature changes, odd patterns, etc.

By the way my audio laptop is a Late 2013 macbook pro with 8 GB ram running maveric, and my main DAW is Studio One but I also use Reaper.

I think that Jamstix XL with the AI Pak expansion would fill your needs. Listen to the demos on the expansion pak pages to get an idea of what each is capable of. That might give you a better idea of what you need.

I'd recommend Jamstix 3 + AIPak. The XL just gives you more kits/sounds, which you don't need since you're using EZD2.

I decided to bite the full bullet and buyed the Jamstix 3 Studio !!!!

Just how many people use programs like EZDrummer for the drum sounds and jamstix for the brain?

This is one thing I keep on reading, that the drum sounds for those programs are phenomenal. I quite like the jamstix drums but admit I've heard some stunning drum sounds out of EZDrummer and BFD!

If Jamstix' drum sounds work for you (and they do for me 90% of the time just fine), then use them. There is no right or wrong when it comes to recording IMO. If it sounds good to YOU that is all that matters.

Similar question: I want to use Superior Drummer, but I love the Jamstix concept of artificial intelligence for drumming. (I am not so crazy about the GUI nor the website, but I can live with it.)

What package would be best for me to buy? I would like as many drummers and styles as possible, but I am not interested in the drum samples.

All suggestions welcome.

JS3 means 17 drummers.

Then you can add another 8 from AI Pack (http://rayzoon.com/buy_exp.html) = TOTAL 25 drummers for 130$.

But depending your style of music other possibilities are possible.
