Jamstix & REAPER

Post by Ralph @ Rayzoon »

The key is that the path to the jamstix2_demo.dll is in the plugin search path of REAPER. If it already is, do a rescan.

Jamstix can be used under Vista-64 with a 32-bit host.

Yes, I did a rescan and a restart of Reaper (version 2.54/[u:026d839d84]64[/u:026d839d84] bits version).

I am not very familiar with reaper, but I should see Jamstix after adding a track to the song and then selecting FX, and then VSti, right? When doing so, I just see three Cockos Vsti's. Also when searching with filter for "jam" I only see NinJam.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

REAPER 64-bit requires 64-bit plugins (AFAIK). Jamstix is 32-bit.

Make sure you have the path/folder to the jamstix2_demo.dll in your
Reaper/Options/Preferences/VSTs.From this picture you wull see where I keep my VSTs for Reaper but have also included my Jamstix Folder,

[img:3329912ff1]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e315/sheppola/ReapJam.jpg[/img:3329912ff1]

and apply

Then click on the Clear Cache and Re-scan Directory option.

As for 64 bit/32 bit I'm running JS in Reaper no real problems on a 32 bit winXP pro O/S.

Ralph,
Your advice was very helpful. It explains why I also couldn't get Addictive Drums to work. I resolved it by reinstalling reaper, but now using the 32-bits version. Now Jamstix works like a charm. Excellent program by the way. Perfect stuff. Keep up the good work !! 8) 8)

Hi Shemp.Nice to see you here :)

JS only loses the settings for me in Reaper if I try and save when it's running. If it's stopped it takes longer to save but saves everything.

In Reaper's preferences make sure in the VST section you have,
Save Full Plug-in state enabled and the Bank save option underneath as well :)
Hi Back at ya Shep! Thanks for the info. I'll check that out tonight. Hope that's it!
Checked the settings. They were already as you mentioned. Also, I have never saved when running. I always save when the project is stopped.

Ralph, sometimes Jamstix forgets its settings in Reaper. I can open up a project and the kit, style and drummer have disappeared.

Drummers, you see - you can never rely on 'em...
I haven't heard any further discussion on this specific bug but this seems to be fixed in the 2.5.1 beta. I am no longer losing JS settings on REAPER saves.!!!!

No I have to do it even when stopped but I'm happy with it as it was a PITA before as I was getting long delays when I closed JS the more complicated the drum track got.My PC is a bit old,AMD 3800+ 2.8Ghz and had glitches if I applied FX to the JS track.
