Drumming Tip - following instruments in a Rhythmic fashion

Hi All
I am not a drummer - so I might not explain this as well as would like, but I will have a go....
I 'think' the answer is to alter the drums on the groove map manually - but lets go to the query...
Take YYZ by Rush... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdpMpfp-J_I (I use this as an example, but I am not trying to copy this in particular). Not how the drums follow the guitar completely in the opening section. A lot of progressive rock and similar does this - the drums might form a backing, but at certain points will follow very closely the rest of the band....
Is there "anyway" that Jamstix can even half way do this on its own - maybe using the midi plugin? The power control plugin is cool and works well in backing off the drums, and bringing them on in sympathy with the rest of the band....
If not, I guess that if I force the groove window drums to play as I want (e..g follow the guitar in the YYZ example), it will only let me doing it intelligently (i.e what is physically possible from the drummer).
Thanks for any thoughts on this.
Got JS4 working with SSD5 this morning and used "Neil" - to take it through its paces
