JS4 - Love it!

Just finished my first EP with JS4 (see link in the "your songs" forum), and I'm very happy with it. JS3 was already very good--I used it for my last album--but JS4 makes things a lot easier, even if it's largely just the new interface.

Having the ability to set power levels for individual song parts without having to mess around with DAW automation is a big plus.

For some things, automation is better (if you want things to flow and evolve slowly, for example), but often I find that it's simply between different song parts that I want the power level to change, and that's a nice addition.

Love the 3D drum visualization. Being able to see what the "drummer" is doing actually aided me in the composition process. It especially helped in matching up MIDI maps to the third-party samples I was using.

My take, if you're still on JS3, it's really a no-brainer to upgrade at the inexpensive price Ralph charges. I was able to switch my existing JS3 projects over to JS4 with no glitches or problems. The existing songs worked fine with no weirdness.

If you're not on JS at all yet, you're really missing out. It's the most important piece of musical software I own--and I'm not exaggerating.

I agree with you. It really doesn't get the recognition it should.

And I really think it's because of the learning curve. You just have to really spend some time with it and RTFM! I am still learning all the things that can be done with this great program. It's my main drum creation tool now.

I listen to what I do in JS and compare it to what I did with other drum programs and there really is no comparison. JS has the feel the other programs lack. Bottom line!!
