Ghost snares - extract from style

Post by worldof_chico »

Hi,

Just wondering, if I want to add ghost snares to a style I'm building myself, based off a midi clip, does it matter which style I extract the ghost snares from?

In other words, if I extract them from the Custom Rock style, or the funk style, or the Jamstix Classic style, are the ghost snares going to be the same?

Second question, they seem to be pretty loud, when I do this, even if I turn the dial right down low... Loud compared to the "normal" backbeat snares on the 2 and 4. There doesn't seem to be a lot of change of volume, if I try to make the ghosts quieter. Is this normal?

You can extract from anywhere you'd like but the easiest way is to use 'Add' in the brain menu and choose 'Snare Ghosts'. This will be added to the accent tab.
When the ghost notes seem to be too loud even at low power setting, which kit are you using?

Thank you, I hadn't noticed the add bit, I'll give that a go. So I guess snare ghosts are the same across the different styles? I'm not sure why I thought they wouldn't be, I guess...

I'll double check the volume thing on better monitors, I was playing with it yesterday on laptop speakers, so perhaps not a great test

Does that work with clockwork toms too Ralph? I was trying to get just a bar of them to play in another drummer style and I ended up copying and pasting the bar. Could I do that with extract style too? I couldn't seem to find them in the list.

Which style are they in? I don't see them in 'Clock Day'.

They are in basic rock Will as drummer Default style one of the player options.
I was trying to use that with another drummer.

Hi Andy,

That is a Player Preset not a Brain "element". That is why it does not appear in the list when you try to "extract" it from Will.

Does it use a tom groove? If so, you should be able to insert the tom groove element and copy the settings.

Thanks Jas Ian I will have a look at that and see if it can be done that way I did it by clearing the bar, pasting in the clockwork tom groove, then locked the bar....
