Yeah the enabling of multiple selection has created workflow problems when many individual edits are required, such as for manual crescendo, fade or modulation of a particular custom part. The right drag velocity functionality of Jamstix 2 is sorely missed by me in these situations.
Maybe the addition of a hotkey like ctrl for either multi edit or quick individual editing could help get "the best of both worlds"?

Totally agreed, and sure I miss right-drag too.rcraig42 wrote:Yeah the enabling of multiple selection has created workflow problems when many individual edits are required, such as for manual crescendo, fade or modulation of a particular custom part. Just to be clear where I said hot key above I really meant modifier key.

yes, i too am missing the possibilty to control velocity simply by holding and dragging the mouse.
the new workflow for setting and editing the hits is not the best imho... and i preferred the JS2 version.
in particular i would like to be able to:
- click a note and holding shift/ctrl/alt while moving mouse to modify the volume
- click a hat event and holding shift/ctrl/alt while moving mouse to modify the hat openess
- select many notes at once and, by using the vol knob, change the volume of all of them without setting them all to the same volume (which is pretty useless, perhaps!). the vol knob must simply increase or decrease the single note velocity according to the actual value.
e.g: i select 2 notes with velocity 50 and 70. if now i drag the vol knob, both notes are set to the same velocity (60, for example.) i would like to turn the vel knob clockwise or anticlockwise and simply increase or decrease the actual note value, i.e. set the notes velocity to 60 and 80, for example, or to 40 and 60.
- when a new event is inserted by a double click, the new note should have the vel/hat openess value of the last one edited.
in this case, if i have to create a lot of notes with low/high velocity i do not have to set the volume for each one of them separately.
the editor remember the type of notes inserted: the new note is the same as the previous one. it should also remember the velocity/hat openness.
- i would like to move the event without holding ctrl/shift, but just by selecting a note and draggin it to a new position. and this should work with multiple events, too...
- and i really liked the JS2 menu for selecting the notes. Now, the submenu are clearer, but also time consuming!
just my 2 cents!

+1 that workflow seems more natural

Yes, I miss the modifiers. I must say Jamstix 3 produces much better grooves, is more customizable and feature rich, but I miss JS2 interface, mostly the bar editor. I say JS3 produces better grooves, but when you have to manual edit, it's not very intuitive. Some key modifiers would help a lot for velocity / openness / timing drag. Bosone has good suggestions above.

The next RC will allow using the mouse wheel to adjust velocity or hihat opening (CTRL held) of all selected notes at once. The change will be accumulative as described by Bosone.
