Demo is Very Choppy and Random
OK I can wait that long. I'm not prepared to give up totally just yet.
What do you see in my log file that is odd? If there is an issue with my user account or permissions or whatever, what can I do to correct it? I honestly haven't touched that stuff. Nobody sees this computer except me, so I have no use for additional user accounts.
The access violations are over my head, and I don't know what causes them or what they are. Jamstix freezing Reaper when I click a demo song is puzzling, and I don't know why it's happening.
And searching through the forum, I don't see many others having the problems I'm having. If it's my system, and you see something in the log that throws up a red flag, I'd appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Waiting for the new demo is fine, but many others are running the current demo without these problems, and technically, I should be able to do the same. Thanks

Sorry you are having all these problems. Jamstix is a truly amazing program but obviously not when you are going through all these issues. I think one problem s the fact that you are using the demo version and the forum people have the full edition. However I am sure it should be working for you. Is your computer system set up predominantly for 64bit? Also what is your audio interface and is it set for ASIO?

Hi and thanks for the reply. My system is indeed 64 bit. Windows Home Premium 64 bit, Service Pack 1. ASIO drivers, Line6 UX2 audio interface. Is the demo a way older version than the full version? That might be the issue if it's the case. I agree it should be working, but no joy to this point.

Maybe you should completely uninstall your current JS demo removing all traces. Now try the 3.6 beta demo which was promised. The 3.6 beta 10 has now been issued so you should be able to obtain a demo version. I would try that and make sure you are placing the Jamstix dll files in the correct vst folder on your system. You can install both the 32bit and 64bit Jamstix (certainly in the full edition) if you wish. I only use the 64bit. Then maybe try something very simple like loading an example song from the menu which should load drums, drummer etc. Then see if you get drums sounding OK. Fingers crossed!

I have completely uninstalled, as well as clearing all registry instances of Jamstix...many, many times! I formatted my computer again 2 days ago. The 3.6 demo isn't available on the download page as far as I can see. It's still showing 3.5 for the demo. I'm no novice, and although you have no way of knowing that, I can assure you, all my .dll's get placed in the proper locations. I run Reaper 64bit and I have separate VST folders for 32 and 64 bit plugins, as well as a VST Misc folder for 32 bit .dll's from apps that install both by default. Reaper doesn't know the Misc folder exists. I've had problems in the past with Reaper seeing both 32 and 64 bit versions of plugins, so I only run 64 when possible and reaper doesn't know about the 32 bit versions.
I appreciate your input, but the problem isn't as simple as loading a song and drummer, etc. I have a very firm grasp on that. The problem is what happens to my system when I try to do that. Read the entire thread again and you'll see that I'm getting freezes, access violations, disk errors and all kinds of strange behavior, just from something as simple as clicking the song wizard. I'll wait until the 3.6 demo shows up on the download page and try once more before I abandon this completely and buy MDrummer.

I'll get you a 3.6 demo soon. Couple of issues left to clear in the Beta.

OK sorry if I was stating some very obvious points for you. Hang on in there as you have obviously been pretty patient not to give up already. Jamstix really is a fabulous resource as you know from so many happy users. Keep us posted with how things go with 3.6 demo when you get it.

Thanks Ralph. I'll give it a try.
