Is anyone using Jamstix on Mac?
Title says it all really. I haven't been able to use Jamstix on Mac since January this year. Is anyone having any success on the Mac platform?
Steve.

I purchased Jamstix 3 several years ago, then got the upgrade to 4 but I've never actually got it working properly.
Today is my bi-yearly check in to see if it's been fixed for Mac yet.
I use Logic X btw.

I got this working (latest Jamstix 4 Beta) using the instructions here:

Requires BlueCatAudio Patchwork, but it seems to work fine.
Edit: lags slightly

You don't need any third party product to use Jamstix4 in LogicPro. it can be somewhat convenient to use third party products if you're trying to use jamstix to control other drum instruments instead of built in sounds....but even that is optional.
what problems are you having?

I've had a number of issues with the beta but the one that stopped it working at all last year gave the error message 'Cannot sync with core". I've uninstalled & reinstalled several times with no luck. I pop in on the forum every couple of months just to see if there's any updates. Today I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again. This time I had a new problem (that has been posted recently by another user): when I install Jamstix manager it simply is nowhere to be seen. ~By that I mean I give the installer permission to install, the installation finishes with a message saying installation successful. However when I go to Finder, or look through my Applications, there is no sign of Jamstix manager.Dewdman42 wrote:You don't need any third party product to use Jamstix4 in LogicPro. it can be somewhat convenient to use third party products if you're trying to use jamstix to control other drum instruments instead of built in sounds....but even that is optional.

I usually run Cubase but I also have Logic Pro and Jamstix stopped working on both.

I’ve been using both Jamstix4 and Jamatix manager off and on for several years on Sierra, Mojave and Catalina. Never had any of those problems. My initial response is that your OS X installation is messed up in some way, nobodies what that would be though. Did you try emailing rayzoon support directly?

Thanks, yes I did email support some time ago but didn’t receive a reply. I’ve just had a conversation on the forum with a new mac user who has Jamstix working on an M1 mac with Big Sur, so I live in (some) hope. It may be that there is something weird about my os installation but I would expect that to cause some problems elsewhere; I have no problems with e.g. Cubase, Wavelab, Logic, Kontakt, VSL, FCPro, Spectrasonics, BFD 3, Superior Drums.Dewdman42 wrote:I’ve been using both Jamstix4 and Jamatix manager off and on for several years on Sierra, Mojave and Catalina. Well I'll be danged - I couldn't get JS4 to open in Logic on my Catalina system, and after reaching out to support and being told that it simply doesn't work with Catalina (and there currently aren't any plans to get it working) I gave up. BUT, after reading this thread, I just went in and re-installed it (using the Re-Install feature in JS4 manager) and now it suddenly works! I haven't changed anything on my system??
Well that makes my Friday
