Jamstix 4 and triggering SSD5 synch problems

Post by timo_75 »

I'm having exactly the same poblem when Jamstix sends MIDI to AddictiveDrums (or any other drum plugin) together with Sonible's Smart EQ2 on any other track. Deactivating Jamstix' output in the instrument panel indeed solves the problem.

Ralph, I wonder what actually causes this problem? Is this an issue with Studio One, Jamstix or SmartEQ? I mean shouldnt Studo One usually compensate any latency?

Hi Timo_75,

I'm not Ralph but I figured I'd check this out for you and I just tried it with Reaper, SD2 and the trial version of SmartEQ2 and the drums stayed in sync with the rest of the tracks. So I would have to guess it is something with Studio One.

Jamstix 4 and triggering SSD5 synch problems

Hi a_zimuth,
Thanks for testing. My suspicion is that Studio One applies latency compensation to both audio and MIDi outputs of jamstix. MIDI out then controls Addictive drums and the audio of AD again gets compensated. When Jamstix' output is deactivated, the plugin is treated as pure MIDI and no compensation is applied.

Maybe a small fix/helper on the Jamstix' side would be to have an option to deactivate all of its audio outputs when in pure MIDI mode if that's possible at all.

But I will also open a ticket with Presonus/Studio One.
