Jamstix & REAPER

Post by stpete111 »

Hi Ralph,

Ever since installing the official version of 3.6.0, Reaper now only shows 32-bit version of Jamstix in my plugins list. Any idea why that would be? Throughout the 3.6 beta process I had no problem running 64-bit Jamstix inside my Reaper.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Am a newbie using Reaper. Trying to record in Midi in Reaper. The meter is lighting up fine but there's no file after recording. Enable midi output is selected in Jamstix. Am sure it's something simple but I'm old so forgive me.

Hi Booker_T,

Right click the track record arm button in Reaper and choose Record:output>Record:output(midi).

Thanks for your help, Azimuth. I tried setting the Record Output to Record Output Midi and that didn't work. Other setting I have there is Input Midi-"All Midi Inputs-All Channels". I am using the X86 version of Jamstix amd Reaper 4.71/x64. I've got an Akai external sound card and use the Akai EIE Pro ASIO driver. I tried using the ASIO4All driver but got noise. My box runs Windows 7.

Got it. A gremlin must have turned off the "Play in Midi" setting in Jamstix. All is well, thanks!

Having some difficulties with a re-install. Bought a new laptop, running Windows 8.1, 64-bit. I figured I'd go ahead and upgrade Reaper to 4.71 and I re-installed Jamstix 3.6 and loaded all my paks.

If I load one of my old projects, the drums will play along, seemingly fine. But when I open Jamstix, a number of things don't work right.

So I went back to my old laptop and copied down everything from the Options page. Made sure the new machine had the same settings. No improvement.

Here are some of the things not working:

> Pressing the loop preview button in the bar editor does nothing. Well, it turns blue but nothing plays.
> Previewing Styles in the Load Style dialog does nothing.
> Clicking on the various kit pieces in the Kit view does nothing. No sound.

Those all seem like they might be related. On top of that, the font seems really small. I can hardly read anything.

Thoughts?

In Reaper: Preferences>Options>Audio>Audio Settings

Uncheck "Close audio device when stopped and application is inactive".

As far as the font being too small, search the JS forum for the term 125%. There is a setting in the JS .ini file that Ralph posted that corrects that. I'm not at my music rig right now so I can't check what it is.

Many thanks! The audio seems to be working properly now!

I found the font message, followed the instructions and closed and re-opened Reaper, but I still have very tiny print. I'll restart the whole machine here in a second but for now that issue is still open.
